Wilton, NH Exterior Repainting Large Project
Location: Wilton, New Hampshire
Scope: Full exterior wash, siding repairs, shutter removal/clean, comprehensive prep, and two-coat finish
This Wilton home was a large-scale exterior refresh that demanded thorough prep and coordination. Years of New England weather had taken a toll—rotted siding in spots, tired paint on trim, and shutters that needed attention.

What we did
Whole-house wash: Low-pressure wash to remove dirt, mildew, and oxidation for proper adhesion.
Siding repairs: Cut out and replaced rotted boards, secured loose fasteners, and restored proper water-shedding.
Shutters off, cleaned, and restored: Removed every shutter, washed both sides, and set them aside for a smooth reinstallation after painting.
Comprehensive prep: Scraped all peeling and failing paint back to a sound edge; spot-primed all bare wood and trouble areas.
Prime + two coats: Applied the appropriate exterior primer, then two finish coats across siding, trim, and shutters for color uniformity and long-term protection.
Why the process matters
Prep drives longevity. Washing, targeted repairs, and full priming ensure the finish bonds and performs.
Two-coat system = coverage + durability. Especially on sun-exposed elevations, a second uniform coat helps color hold and resists New England’s freeze–thaw cycles.
Shutter removal is worth the effort. Painting shutters correctly (off the house) prevents lap marks and missed edges—key to a clean look and longer life.
Result
A crisp, even finish from eaves to foundation, repaired siding that’s ready for the seasons ahead, and freshly restored shutters that frame the façade with clean lines. The home’s curb appeal is significantly improved, and the coating system is built to last.
