What Makes Cabinet Conversions Succeed (Our Process)
Turning stained cabinets into a premium painted finish is all about meticulous prep and controlled application. Here’s how we did it:
Catalog & Remove: We removed and labeled every door, drawer front, and piece of hardware for perfect reassembly.
Degrease: Thorough degreasing of doors and cabinet boxes to remove cooking oils and residues.
Sand & Clean: Mechanical sanding to promote adhesion, followed by a full clean to remove dust.
Prime for Bonding: Applied a high-bonding primer designed for slick, previously finished wood.
Sand & Clean (Again): Light intercoat sanding for a smooth substrate; thorough tack and vacuum.
Cabinet-Grade Topcoats: Finished with a Benjamin Moore cabinet-grade enamel (e.g., ADVANCE®) for a hard, furniture-like finish that levels beautifully and cures to a durable surface.
Spray vs. Brush (Why We Used Both)
Kitchen Cabinets (Sprayed): We masked the kitchen, installed a negative-pressure containment with high-volume ventilation to control dust and odor, and sprayed the doors and frames for a factory-level appearance.
Office Built-In (Hand-Brushed): We hand brushed this piece using a premium enamel selected for brush application—same prep process, different product tuned for a refined, brush-mark–minimized look.
Clean Jobsite, Healthy Home
Containment: Full masking of adjacent spaces
Negative Pressure: Keeps air moving inward so dust/odor stay inside the work zone
Ventilation: High-volume exhaust to speed dry-time and maintain indoor air quality
Paint & Materials (Selected Highlights)
Cabinets: High-bonding primer + Benjamin Moore cabinet-grade enamel
Walls/Ceilings/Trim: Premium interior coatings matched to the home’s sheen and durability needs
Fireplace: Heat-tolerant, manufacturer-approved system for the surround (color matched to the new palette)
(We’re happy to share exact product specs with homeowners or designers on request.)
The Living Room Fireplace—A Focal-Point Refresh
We prepped, primed, and painted the fireplace surround to tie the living room palette into the kitchen’s new finish. The cleaner lines and updated color anchor the room and make decor updates effortless.

Bright, modern kitchen without the cost and downtime of replacement
Uniform, durable finish that cleans easily and resists everyday wear
Cohesive palette across kitchen, eat-in, office, and living room

Care & Maintenance Tips
Gentle Cleaners: Use mild soap and water; avoid abrasives and harsh chemicals.
Cure Time: Cabinet enamels harden further over the first 2–4 weeks—treat gently during early cure.
Hardware Check: Tighten hinges and pulls after reassembly “settles in.”
Touch-Up Kit: We leave labeled touch-up paint for future nicks.
