Kitchen Cabinet Transformation in Greenfield, NH

A Professional Cabinet Repaint by Beanland Painting

There’s nothing quite like the impact of a beautifully refinished kitchen. In this recent Greenfield, New Hampshire project, homeowners wanted to refresh their space without the cost and disruption of a full cabinet replacement. Their existing cabinets were solid and well-built—they simply needed a new look and a durable, factory-quality finish.

The result: a clean, updated kitchen with smooth, professional cabinetry that looks and feels brand new.

The Before

Over time, kitchen cabinets naturally collect oils from hands, cooking residue, and everyday wear. The original finish in this kitchen had dulled and accumulated buildup, making the space feel tired and dated. However, structurally the cabinets were still in excellent condition—an ideal candidate for repainting rather than replacement.

The Professional Cabinet Painting Process

At Beanland Painting, cabinet refinishing is a meticulous, multi-step process designed to deliver long-term durability and a furniture-grade finish. For this Greenfield kitchen, every surface was prepared and finished using our proven system.

Step 1 — Deep Cleaning
Cabinets were thoroughly cleaned using a professional-grade degreasing solution to remove oils, cooking residue, and contaminants that can interfere with adhesion. Proper cleaning is critical—paint will only perform as well as the surface beneath it.

Step 2 — De-glossing and Surface Prep
All cabinet boxes and doors were de-glossed to remove sheen from the existing finish and create a surface the new coating can bond to. Surfaces were then carefully dusted and wiped clean.

Step 3 — Bonding Primer Application
A high-adhesion bonding primer was applied to ensure strong attachment between the existing cabinetry and the new finish system. Once cured, surfaces were lightly sanded for smoothness and dust was removed again.

Step 4 — Cabinet-Grade Finish Coats
We applied Benjamin Moore Advance®, a premium hybrid alkyd cabinet paint known for its durability, leveling, and furniture-like finish.

  • First finish coat applied

  • Light sanding and dust removal

  • One to two additional coats applied for depth and durability

Step 5 — Controlled Curing
Doors and components were placed on drying racks to cure under controlled conditions, allowing the coating to harden properly and achieve maximum durability before handling.

Step 6 — Reinstallation
Once fully cured, doors and hardware were carefully reinstalled, completing the transformation with precise alignment and a clean, finished appearance.

The After

The completed kitchen now feels brighter, cleaner, and fully updated—while preserving the original cabinetry investment. The smooth, factory-like finish and durable coating system ensure the cabinets will perform beautifully for years to come.

Why Repaint Instead of Replace?

This project is a great example of how cabinet repainting can deliver dramatic results with less cost, less waste, and less disruption than full replacement. When cabinets are structurally sound, professional refinishing provides:

  • Significant cost savings vs. new cabinetry

  • Minimal demolition and downtime

  • Custom color flexibility

  • Durable, long-lasting finish

  • Sustainable reuse of existing materials
